Hi, I'm Tessa, a mixed media artist based in the Montreal area of Canada.

Like so many artists, I fell in love with making art early in life—drawn to color, expression, and the quiet joy of creation. But as life unfolded, I took a different path, studying classical music and working as a musician and teacher. Now, I've returned to art with deeper eyes, more stories, and a renewed sense of curiosity.

I began exploring mixed media art as a way of experimenting and problem solving (especially when my technique was lacking!). I fell in love with the messiness and freedom of this approach, although watercolor remains at the center of my process. In my little corner of the world, I happily sling paint around and indulge in painting quirky images and messages that are drawn from my curiosity and growing life experience. I’m fascinated by the beauty and absurdity in the mundane. I love the subtleties of human expression: the fleeting look of joy, the private moments of frustration, the tenderness of a tired smile.

I often find inspiration in the raw, funny, and poignant realities of getting older and being a parent. These everyday moments—messy, surprising, heartfelt—offer both humor and meaning that I try to honor in my art. I hope you enjoy viewing it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Thank you for stopping by. I’m glad you're here.
